PINTEREST CAMPAIGN RELIES ON VISUAL STORYTELLING TO RAISE AWARENESS OF SOCIAL ISSUES
To mark the International Day of Human Solidarity, ActionAid Italia and We Are Social Milan have devised a short-term Pinterest campaign. Together, they utilised the platform’s ‘save’ feature to encourage users to think not just about saving ideas and images, but also saving people and communities in need.
ActionAid is an international organisation working to achieve a fair and just world, defending people’s rights and overcoming poverty, inequality, and injustice. This campaign titled, ‘Save. For Real’ was positioned on Pinterest, to ensure the compelling imagery captured the attention of audiences on the platform.
Images of real people ensured the campaign remained authentic and conveyed a sense of visual storytelling, without overwhelming the audience with text or audio.
On Monday 20 December, ActionAid featured on Pinterest’s ‘Today’ section, to grab the attention of users and encourage them to visit ActionAid’s Pinterest board. The board featured stories and information, sharing the different ways ActionAid works to fight against poverty.
Clicking on pieces of content directed the audience to an information page, where they could find out how to help the children and communities by joining ActionAid’s sponsorship programme. To raise awareness around the need for clean water, nutritious food and education across the world, this campaign utilised Pinterest as an impactful comms channel for the visual and emotive campaign.
