AUTHENTIC ORGANISATION, HAPPY EMPLOYEES

In the past, businesses called the shots. But that is no longer the case.

People’s priorities, what they want from life, are shifting, and the employee arguably has more power than ever before – particularly in sectors and job roles that suffer from a shortage of talent.

In their latest book, Why Should Anyone Work Here?: What It Takes to Create an Authentic Organization, Professor Rob Goffee and Professor Gareth Jones hope to build upon their last book around the type of leader people want to work for to, this time, understand what sort of company people want to work for.

The book, published on 3 November by Harvard Business Review, is separated into six sections; let people be themselves, practice radical honesty, magnify people's strengths, stand for authenticity (more than shareholder value), make work meaningful and make simple rules. These sections explain how leaders can create the type of environment that employees want to be a part of.

In an age where employees expect so much more from work than a paycheck, businesses who meet their needs could reap the benefits; a content and productive workforce.
